This project is super simple to make! However, I have included a few quick instructions to follow.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR SNOWMAN CANDY BAR WRAPPERS
Supplies
- free printable snowman candy bar wrappers (see link above)
- a PDF program, such as Adobe Reader, to open the document
- color printer
- paper (for my snowman, I used presentation paper)
- scissors or paper trimmer
- double-sided tape or tape runner
- regular size Hershey candy bars (1.55 oz/43 g)
Optional Supplies:
- fabric scraps for scarf (to prevent unraveling, I recommend fleece)
- Button, ribbon, or other embellishments for hat
- hot glue gun to attach embellishments to hat
STEP ONE: Download and Print the Template
Download the template and open in Adobe Reader or other PDF program. I don’t have a picture of the snowman’s back, but there is a holiday greeting which you can delete and personalize with your own Christmas message.
For printing, you could use regular copy paper or card stock. However, for best results, I recommend using presentation paper. Regular copy paper is too thin, while card stock is usually too thick. For my snowman, I used Epson Premium Matte Presentation Paper. It’s heavy duty but not too thick to fold around the candy bar. The Epson paper is also ultra smooth and has a special coating that ensures a smudge-free finish. As a side note, I have an HP printer. Even though I have a different brand printer, the paper works well with my ink.
STEP TWO: Cut and Adhere
After the template is done printing, allow the ink to dry for a minute or two, and then cut it out. You can use scissors, but I recommend a paper trimmer for quick, straight cuts. Wrap the template around the candy bar, visually lining up the “face” of the template with the front of the candy bar. To adhere, I used my Scotch ATG tape gun, but you could use double-sided tape or any permanent adhesive tape runner.
STEP THREE: Embellishments
At this point, your snowman is ready for gift-giving. However, you can also easily embellish it with any craft supplies that you have on hand. For my snowman candy bar wrapper, I cut a thin fabric strip and used it for his scarf. I also added a plastic snowflake to his hat, which I adhered using my hot glue gun.
