Today is the first day of December, which means the countdown to Christmas really begins! A handmade Advent calendar is a great way to tick off the days until December 25th, so today, I am sharing with you the Christmas countdown garland I came across on TheCraftingChicks.com.
If you think it’s too late to start working on a calendar, think again! The great thing about this one is that not only does Jamie at the The Crafting Chicks provide awesome directions for how to make this, she also includes free printables to use for the numbers on the envelopes!
This Advent calendar is activity-based. The envelopes really are not big enough to stuff candy or gifts inside, but they are the perfect size for little cards with special projects for the day, such as visit Santa, read the Nativity story, and bake Christmas cookies – things that the munchkins will love to do! If you want to, you can also hide a small present somewhere in your house, and let the card be the clue to where the “treasure” can be found.
